SAANJHBAATI

THE CAUSE

Have you ever wondered what the society would be like without the wisdom and the guidance of the elderly? Do you ever sit down and think about the elderly neighbours next door who are lonely and miss their children who are living away from them? Do you reach out to the elderly on the road and help them to cross it?

Ageing is a natural process that happens and will happen to all of us. But as we grow, we lose our freedom to move around due to various physical wears and tear. But does that mean they should loose contact with their family and peers ending up in solitude and depression?

OUR WORK

OFFER’s latest project, Saanjhbaati, is in association with Bidhannagar City police under the guidance of Police Commissioner, Bidhannagar, Sri Rajeev Kumar, IPS. We launched this project on April 14, 2012 and since then it has touched the lives of 1000 elderly people through its services that aim to provide them with a better quality of life.

At OFFER we recognise that the elderly people all over the world have the right to basic social facilities like pensions, social security, health care, safety and security, transportation and mobility. They deserve to live with dignity and enjoy the fruits of their hardships. Thus, Team OFFER has taken this initiative and is trying to reach out to the elderly by:

  • Providing them with better health services.
  • Providing emotional support to the elderly by helping them come out from the loneliness and spend quality time with their peers doing what they like.
  • Spreading awareness among the elderly group and make them understand their rights so that they get their respective dues and are able to play an active role in the society.
  • Making the society aware of the concerns of the aged and promote better understanding.
  • We have also launched a 24 x 7 helpline 9748898933 where the elderly can call and ask for support or inform us about their grievances.

OUR EXPECTATION

  • To integrate more elderly, with no one young to take care of, to Saanjhbaati.
  • To provide them proper health and psychological support.
  • To connect with the mainstream society and involve them in relevant activities of the society.
